Composition
A-One XR Tablet : Each tablet contains Paracetamol BP 665 mg.
A-One PLUS Tablet : Each tablet contains Paracetamol BP 500 mg and Caffeine BP 65 mg.
A-One Suspension : Each 5 ml suspension contains Paracetamol BP 120 mg.
Pharmacology
A-One XR is the formulation of Paracetamol, which is one of the safest and most widely used analgesic and
antipyretic. Paracetamol elevates the pain threshold and gives analgesic action and it also regulates the
hypothalamic region that causes antipyresis.
A-One PLUS is the combination of Paracetamol BP and Caffeine BP. Paracetamol elevates the pain threshold and
gives analgesic action and it also regulates the hypothalamic region that causes antipyresis. On the other hand
caffeine increases the solubility and transmembrane permeation of Paracetamol. It also increases the pain threshold
and tolerance of pain.
Indication
Fever, Mild to moderate pain, Migraine, Menstrual pain, Cold and Flu.
Dosage & Administration
Tablet
A-One PLUS: Adults & Children over 12 years: 1-2 tablets every 4 hours as required. Do not take more than 8 tablets
in 24 hours.
Children (6-12 years): ½ to 1 tablet 3-4 times daily. For long term treatment, it is wise not to exceed the dose beyond
2.6 gm/day.
A-One XR: Adults & Children over 12 years: 2 tablets every 6-8 hours as required. Do not take more than 6 tablets in
24 hours. The tablet must not be crushed.
Suspension
Children Under 3 months: 10 mg/kg body weight (reduce to 5 mg/kg if jaundiced) 3 to 4 times daily.
3 months to below 1 year: ½ to 1 teaspoonful 3 to 4 times daily.
1-5 years: ½ teaspoonful 3 to 4 times daily.
6-12 years: 2-4 teaspoonful 3 to 4 times daily.
Adults: 4-8 teaspoonful 3 to 4 times daily.
Or as directed by the physician.
Contraindication
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Paracetamol or any other components of it.
Precaution
Decreased kidney & liver function in long term use. The medicine should not be used if patients are allergic to it.
Side Effects
Blood disorders, Skin rashes, Hepatotoxicity at high dose, Gastrointestinal disturbances.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnant or nursing mother should consult with a physician before using this product.
Use In Children & Adolescents: The use of Paracetamol under 12 years of age is not recommended.
Drug Interaction
Cholestyramine may reduce the absorption of Paracetamol from gut. Metoclopramide and Domperidone may
increase the absorption of Paracetamol from gut. Long term or regular use of Paracetamol may increase the
anti-blood clotting effect of Warfarin and other anticoagulant medicines, leading to an increased risk of bleeding.
Overdose
Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if anyone feel well, becomes of the
risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
Keep away from light & moisture and store below 30o C. Keep out of the reach of children.
